Frank Costanza gave up on Christmas because of the stress of the holiday season, and he created his own holiday named Festivus. Festivus had three great traditions: An aluminum pole was put up instead of a Christmas tree because tinsel is distracting; the Airing of Grievances allowed each family member to tell the other what they had done to be irritating that year; and Festivus can not end until Feats of Strength are performed, where Frank is pinned to the floor.
